Common App系统

以下题目七选一,从七个题目中选择一个你最有话说,最想和别人分享,最能体现你性格特点的题目来写,字数不超过650字但不能少于250字。

  

1、Some students havea background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believetheir application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, thenplease share your story.

 

2、The lessons we takefrom obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount atime when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did itaffect you, and what did you learn from the experience?

 

3、Reflect on a timewhen you questioned or challenged a belief or idea. What prompted yourthinking? What was the outcome?

 

4、Describe a problemyou`ve solved or a problem you`d like to solve. It can be an intellectualchallenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma - anything that is of personalimportance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what stepsyou took or could be taken to identify a solution.

 

5、Discuss anaccomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growthand a new understanding of yourself or others.

 

6、Describe a topic,idea, or concept you find so engaging that it makes you lose all track of time.Why does it captivate you? What or who do you turn to when you want to learnmore?

 

7、Share an essay onany topic of your choice. It can be one you`ve already written, one thatresponds to a different prompt, or one of your own design.

 

UC申请系统

加州大学(University of California,简称UC)的本科申请系统是共用的。与2018年的申请文书要求一致,UC系统2019年的申请文书题目仍然要求申请者在所给的8个题目中任选4个来写,每篇文书不超过350个词。

 

1、Describe an exampleof your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced others,helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time.

 

2、Every person has acreative side, and it can be expressed in many ways: problem solving, originaland innovative thinking, and artistically, to name a few. Describe how youexpress your creative side.

CAAS申请系统

 

CAAS,全称Coalition forAccess, Affordability, and Success,是由哈佛、耶鲁等83所美国高校共同创建一个新的大学申请系统,它于20164月上线,并于2016年暑期正式投入使用。CAAS在体现公平性上有一定改进,对于学生所付出的努力,有一定的判断标准,在申请大学的时候,再将自己每一年保存的材料提交给大学。

 

1、Tell a story fromyour life, describing an experience that either demonstrates your character orhelped to shape it.

 

2、Describe a timewhen you made a meaningful contribution to others in which the greater good wasyour focus. Discuss the challenges and rewards of making your contribution.

 

3、Has there been atime when youve had a long-cherished or acceptedbelief challenged? How did you respond? How did the challenge affect yourbeliefs?

 

4、What is thehardestpart of being a teenager now? Whats the bestpart? What advice would you give a younger sibling or friend (assuming theywould listen to you)?

 

5、Submit an essay ona topic of your choice.

In 2015, thecity of Melbourne, Australia created a "tree-mail" service, in whichall of the trees in the city received an email address so that residents couldreport any tree-related issues. As an unexpected result, people began to emailtheir favorite trees sweet and occasionally humorous letters. Imagine this hasbeen expanded to any object (tree or otherwise) in the world, and share with usthe letter you’d send to your favorite.

 

2) Essay Option2

You’re on avoyage in the thirteenth century, sailing across the tempestuous seas. What if,suddenly, you fell off the edge of the Earth?

 

3) Essay Option3

The wordfloccinaucinihilipilification is the act or habit of describing or regardingsomething as unimportant or of having no value. It originated in the mid-18thcentury from the Latin words "floccus," "naucum,""nihilum," and "pilus"—all words meaning “of little use.”Coin your own word using parts from any language you choose, tell us itsmeaning, and describe the plausible (if only to you) scenarios in which itwould be most appropriately used.

 

4) Essay Option4

Lost your keys?Alohomora. Noisy roommate? Quietus. Feel the need to shatter windows for somereason? Finestra. Create your own spell, charm, jinx, or other means formagical mayhem. How is it enacted? Is there an incantation? Does it involve apotion or other magical object? If so, what`s in it or what is it? What does itdo?

 

5) Essay Option5

Imagine you’vestruck a deal with the Dean of Admissions himself, Dean Nondorf. It goes asfollows: you’re guaranteed admission to the University of Chicago regardless ofany circumstances that arise. This bond is grounded on the condition thatyou’ll obtain a blank, 8.5 x 11 piece of paper, and draw, write, sketch, shade,stencil, paint etc., anything and everything you want on it; your onlylimitations will be the boundaries of both sides on the single page. Now thecatch… your submission, for the rest of your life, will always be the firstthing anyone you meet for the first time will see. Whether it’s at a jobinterview, a blind date, arrival at your first Humanities class, before youeven say, “hey,” they’ll already have seen your page, and formulated that firstimpression. Show us your page. What’s on it, and why? If your piece is largelyor exclusively visual, please make sure to share a creator`s accompanyingstatement of at least 300 words, which we will happily allow to be on its own,separate page.
